Trials and Research

It is most strongly advised that you discuss with your GP/Consultant before taking any of the products mentioned. Also that you continue with any surveillance.

I expect most of us hope that there are trials being held or planned with treatment of our own particular disease or illness. However with FAP and the other Bowel Genes it is not just one part of the body or one condition that affects us. We are now ready to report on two different trials which concern polyps in the colon and rectum.

The two trials mentioned concern Curcumin C3 complex and Alfa Capsules, The Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) or EPA FFA.

John has been in contact with a patient who has been running a personal trial on Curcumin C3 Complex for two years. This trial has been run with support from the NHS and involved support from several academics. Not an easy thing to do but sometimes necessary if a patient feels so strongly about it.

FAP Gene has followed trials on Alfa Capsules since the company SLA Pharma gave a presentation at our first Family/Information Day in 2006. Although only a handful were present it did make us aware that researchers were looking into at least two of our problems, polyps in the colon and rectum.

So John has started out on the Curcumin C3 Complex Route and I have taken the Alfa Capsule Route plus a 75mg Aspirin which I have taken for several years. Perhaps we could write a song about that.

Hopes are for a reduction in John's Rectal Polyps and for myself those in my duodenum and small bowel. Hopefully we will have comparisons to make over the coming years.
